This database is an index to the Santa Cruz Public Libraries' newspaper clipping file. The clipping file is a large collection of articles of local interest which have been gathered from a variety of newspapers. The articles range in date from the early 1900's to the present.
This is not intended as a complete index to any given newspaper and its contents do not necessarily represent every article that may have been written on a particular subject.
The creation of this index is an ongoing project--more than 50,000 articles in the clipping file have been indexed and entered into the database. New articles are being indexed and added regularly. Many of the clippings listed here are undated and others do not indicate a source.
Clipping files are located in the Reference Departments of the Central and Aptos Branch Libraries. Articles may be viewed or copied in the library but may not be checked out. The majority of the articles referenced in the index are also available on microfilm at the Central Branch. If you live outside Santa Cruz County, copies of individual articles may be available by contacting the Reference Department.
